Since 1717, the people of this historic, central New Jersey community have gathered in the name of Christ our Lord to serve and worship God. While it is true that we represent an extraordinary diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and viewpoints, we remain united by Jesus Christ, whom we confess to be the Savior and Redeemer of all creation. Heeding His compassionate ministry to a world filled with despair, sadness, grief, conflicts, and fear, we strive to witness to the love of God in all that we do and say.
Because we confess that we have received the grace and the peace of God through Jesus Christ, we joyfully commit ourselves to the ministries of mission, outreach, and fellowship. Even as we encourage and support one another, we turn our attention to our neighbors in this community and beyond, knowing by faith that God has granted us all we need to serve them faithfully. Lest we forget, Jesus commanded us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves!
Because we confess that we have received knowledge of God as revealed in the Bible, and, more particularly, Jesus Christ and His Church, we commit ourselves to the education and nurture of disciples of all ages–including young people and children. As we learn more about God’s will and purposes for our lives, we understand what it means to be fully human in an imperfect world. Lest we forget, Jesus instructed us to love God with all of our minds!
Because we confess that we receive wisdom and strength through the worship of God, we commit ourselves to the weekly stewardship of communal prayer, the reading and hearing of the Scriptures, the preaching of the Word, and the offering of liturgy–including the sacred music that witnesses to the glory and majesty of Almighty God. Lest we forget, Jesus instructed us to love and adore God with all our hearts!
In all that we do as a community called by God to ministry, we witness to the generous grace, the everlasting peace, and the eternal love of God, and celebrate the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
All praise, honor, and glory be unto God, who created us, redeemed us, and continues to inspire and guide us.
Thanks be to God, and, again, welcome!
