Music

Our Music Ministry offers participants and listeners alike the opportunity to explore our faith through the beauty of music. Whether it is singing in a choir, ringing in a bell choir, playing instruments during worship, or simply attending one of our Candlelight Concerts or Lenten Concerts, beauty, peace, and joy are found in the Music Ministry.

To get involved, contact Jordan Klotz, Director of Music Ministries. From age 4 to 104, there is something for everyone in our music program.  All are welcome!

VOCAL CHOIRS

Meeting times and groups are shown below. All choirs rehearse in the Choir Room, located above the Narthex.

Carol Choir

Age 4–Grade 2 · Tuesdays 4:00-4:30 PM

Jubilee Choir helps young singers to find their "singing voice" and differentiate it from their "speaking voice." This group learns primarily by rote. In addition to early music skills, Jubilee Choir builds confidence, social skills, speech ability, and creativity!

Junior Choir

Grades 3–6 · Thursdays 4:15-5:00 PM

Junior Choir begins to combine the skills learned in Jubilee Choir with notes, rhythms, and words on the page, and begins to expand into singing in multiple parts. At this age level, children also begin to ring handbells in Joy Ringers.

Westminster Choir

Grades 7–12 · Wednesdays 6:15–6:45 PM

Westminster Choir is the most advanced of the youth choirs, singing regularly in multiple parts.

Senior Choir

Adults · Thursdays 8:00– 9:30 PM

HANDBELL CHOIRS

Joy Ringers

Grades 3-6 · Thursdays 5:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Joy Ringers helps Junior Choir members not only to play an instrument, but also to enhance the music-reading skills taught during choir by reinforcing concepts.

Trinity Ringers

Grade 7 and up · Wednesdays 6:15-6:45 PM

This intergenerational bell choir is open to ringers in grades 7-12 as well as beginner adult ringers.

Concord Ringers

Adults · Thursdays 9:30-10:15 AM

Concord Ringers is designed as an intermediate 5-octave bell choir for beginning adult ringers. Its morning meeting time makes it optimal for ringers who prefer not to drive at night.

Covenant Ringers

Adults · Thursdays 7:00-8:00 PM

Covenant Ringers is an advanced, 5-octave adult bell choir.

Lessons & Carols

Sunday, December 21 · 9:30 AM

Our annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols service features choir, harp, organ, and handbells. Familiar carols and favorite anthems of the season tell the story of Christ's birth. The roots of this liturgy lie with King's College, Cambridge. King's College hosted its first Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols in 1918, as the world recovered from the First World War in an attempt to connect with the many who felt alienated by the church. Rather than a complicated mass, the young Dean of the college chapel devised something more meaningful, accessible, and beautiful during a time when the world needed beauty very deeply.
